Celebrity make up tips 1-10
In their line of work, image is everything. So it's no surprise that celebrities -- whether they earn a living on the small screen, big screen, catwalk or concert stage--are serious about looking their best. (Having access to the most talented hair, makeup, skin and spa experts doesn't hurt either.) On these pages, their good fortune becomes ours as we reveal insider beauty secrets guaranteed to make anyone look and feel like a star. We start with Aaliyah. 1 For a more skin-visible makeup effect, mix foundation with moisturizer, says makeup pro Eric Ferrell, who gives great natural face to Aaliyah and Monica and actress Lisa Nicole Carson. His foundation favorite (for its high pigment and versatility): Dermablend Cover Creme Corrective ([877] 900-6700). 2 Makeup maven Roxanna Floyd taught actress Angela Bassett a stippling technique for an even, flawless finish: Using a sponge, pat foundation on the face in quick dabbing motions until the entire face is covered, then blend. 3 Maybelline spokesmodel Tomiko Fraser applies extra virgin olive oil, which has fatty acids that penetrate the hair cuticle and soothe parched strands, to her hair under a plastic cap once a month as a deep conditioner. 4 For polished-looking brows between tweezing appointments, ER regular Michael Michele learned a trick from Bobbi Brown makeup artist Cynde Watson: Disguise new growth by using a concealer brush and concealer under the brow bone and a foundation one shade lighter than usual above it. 5 Singer Tamia's secret for sun-kissed skin year-round? Rather than soaking up harmful rays, she applies a liquid bronzer (her favorite: Nars Body Glow, below left, [Sephora.com]) for instant radiance. 6 Model Lana Ogilvie maintains her trademark pearly-white smile by brushing her teeth with sea salt to help remove tartar. 7 To soothe skin after a breakout, actress Tamala Jones turns to the antiseptic properties of clove oil, which reduces inflammation. (She likes Enessa Aromatherapy [(888) 4-ENESSA] best.) 8 Instead of weighing down her fine hair with heavy oils, businesswoman and author Iman keeps flyaways under control with a light pomade, says her stylist, Oscar James. Her pick: Physique Precision Pomade (at drugstores). 9 On weekends NYPD Blue's Garcelle Beauvais gives her hair a break from the weekly styling grind by slicking it back into a ponytail with a deep conditioner (Creme of Nature is her fave) and leaving it on all day. 10 Singer India.Arie prefers no-fuss makeup, says her makeup artist, Lanier Long, who uses a sheer foundation half a shade lighter than India's complexion all over, then applies foundation a half-shade darker under the cheekbones for definition.
