Hair styles for elegant hair design

Supplies
Hot rollers/curling iron
Flat iron
Brush and/or comb
Bobby pins
Styling hairspray, also known as a "working spray"
Something fun, like costume jewelry or silk flowers, to put into your hair.

Before you begin

If you haven't already, don't shampoo your hair today. It adds static electricity and makes it harder to style. Also, avoid coloring your hair today, otherwise, you could have a tell-tale stain around your face.

Ethnic women should straighten the hair first with a hot flat iron and then use a curling iron to put soft, full, and romantic waves in hair. Women with non-ethnic hair should use hot rollers to give hair body, and then brush it out. Hair extensions should be used only after the hair has been styled.

Long hair 'up-design'
1. Part the hair into five or six sections.
2. Twist each section into a tight knot and bobby pin it onto the crown of your head.
3. Weave a bracelet or necklace through the knots. Bobby pin them in place.

OR

1. Part hair from ears to crown.
2. Twist that front section into a knot and bobby pin it onto the crown of the head. Leave the ends of the hair out to "play with them" later.
3. Take the rest of the hair, comb it straight up and twist into a second knot, immediately below the first knot. Bobby pin it into place slightly under the first knot.
4. Weave a choker necklace around the top knot and through the back knot.
5. Using your fingers, "fluff" the ends up into a soft, airy puff on top of the head, to give it that "My Fair Lady" look.
6. Use a little bit of hairspray, but be sure to keep the look soft and romantic looking.

Long hair partial 'up-design'
1. Brush hair after removing rollers, but use only your fingers to create this look.
2. Gently grab hair from the middle of your ear and back of head, then slightly push it up and forward. If you want more fullness, back brush (not back comb) your hair, then smooth the surface with the brush. Bobby pin it in place.
3. Affix a necklace, brooch or drop earring at the back, creating a dramatic "exit" look.

Shorter hair
1. Very lightly brush the hair to see where waves naturally form. Use those waves, by dividing hair where it naturally separates.
2. Pull each of those sections to the back of the head and bobby pin them into place. Be sure to leave the ends free for a more dramatic styling. This style is particularly effective for finer hair.
3. Weave bracelets into the hair to hide the bobby pins.
4. If some hair falls out, don't worry. Instead, use those little pieces as flowing "accessories."
